SKDUN Referees Course
Sensei Steve along with Sensei Terry Oliver and Sensei Chris Carr recently attended a very intense 2 day referees course with the SKDUN chief referee Sensei Colin Putt 7th dan. Following the course Sensei Steve sat, and passed the exam for International Class Judge.

Sensei Steve ,Jim and Mike made the journey to Porchester for the first Instructors class of the year. It was busy class with Sensei Dewey taking the first class through revision of Kanku Dai and selected bunkai with regard to standardization within Seku. Sensei Smith then led the class through various drills to draw awareness to correct knee and foot positions within our basic stances. Also covering the usage of good hip rotation whilst blocking and punching and not to miss time ie. making sure all our movement comes together as one to create a technique rather than a series of smaller movements. The manner in which these technique was also discussed making sure a full forward commitment was given every time. Sensei O'Donnell finished off the class with some free flowing yet basic kumite partner work using different block/kick/punch routines to stress the importance of these points.
This was a well attended class which always makes for a great atmosphere and gives us all something to take away and think about in our training.
